Early 2009, Christine Ho and Kevin Tsoi made an insightful discovery. Most people would love to support charities, but many lack the financial means or the time to do so on a regular basis. This insight led to the groundbreaking idea that is Well of Change.
Well of Change is a not-for-profit organization that enables individuals and businesses to raise money for charity through the donation of services. Their vision is to create widespread systematic change that will revolutionize how people support the not-for-profit organizations they care about.
Acting as an online matchmaker, they bring together “sellers” of skills, services or talents with “buyers” looking to purchase those skills, services or talents. The funds raised are then collected and sent to Canadian charities.
The types of services available in the marketplace can range from practical and professional to fun and recreational. Users are provided with the unique opportunity to fundraise by utilizing their individual talents, be it bookkeeping, web design, dog walking or career mentorship. Well of Change is already applying this fundraising model for the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, Children’s Aid Foundation and many other Canadian charities.
