Second Harvest is working together with Night It Up! as 2013′s beneficiary!
They are a food rescue and redistributive charitable organization striving to reduce hunger in Toronto. The organization provides fresh food, supplied by local food retailers, restaurants, and caterers, and in a nutshell, the outcome of their visions and their goals have drastically helped decrease hunger in Ontario by providing and supplying high-nutrition and fresh food to individuals who need it. Founded by two locals, Ina Andre and Joan Clayton, and being driven by community leaders, Second Harvest has been supplying Torontonians with healthy, nutritious food since 1985. Since then, they have been making a huge social impact, delivering over 19 000 meals a day!

We’re looking to improve our event every year, and many of our improvement ideas come from you. We heard you guys last year and we implemented the following improvements:
We expanded our programming around the whole venue including the grass area so people do not crowd around the food area. For example, we took the CCYAA Sports Zone, NBA 3X, Paint-A-Thon, Outdoor Movie Theater and Food Truck Eats away from the food booths!
In terms of layout, we took out 20 booths and increased the size of the eating area. We also increased the width of each aisle for more room to walk.
To keep our event crystal clean, we hired a waste management company to handle garbage this year (as opposed to having the garbage self managed for the past 10 years)!
Finally, we stretched out the originally 2-day event to 3 days to avoid overcrowding.
What did you think of us this year? Did our corrective actions help? How else can we improve? Please leave your thoughts here and we’ll surely take it into consideration. If you want to send your comments anonymously, please send your feedback to email@example.com. Thank you!
