There was a great classic Hong Kong movie called “人間有情”. The plot is based on a true story of a Leung So Kee Umbrella Factory in Hong Kong. The story mainly tells how strong bonding between people help them overcome difficult life times. This make the movie really touching.

  121. Comment by Winnie | July 11, 2012 @ 12:37 am

My favourite Asian movie is “I love Hong Kong 2011.” Its so funny, with Linda, Bosco, Fala and Mag. LOL

its just a funny movie to start of the year :P

    Itsstached with tvb stars.

It also shows a funny love story, and competetion, and nice shots of hong kong :)

  122. Comment by Tian | July 11, 2012 @ 12:42 am

One of my favourite Asian movies is the Academy Award-winning “Departures” or “Okuribito” (Japanese title). It portrays the journey of life as seen through the eyes of a cellist-cum-encoffiner who must struggle to deal with death at both a personal and community level. Beautifully crafted and shot, with an amazing soundtrack, it easily ranks as not only one of my favourite Asian movies but also movies in general.

  123. Comment by Sharon | July 11, 2012 @ 1:33 am

I probably won’t be able to win again, but I think Shaolin Soccer is a classic that’s absolutely hilarious LOL

A more modern one, Into The Fire (Korean) is about teens who were forced to enlist into the army. I love it not only because my fav kpop idol stars in it, but also because it really gives a different perspective. :P

  124. Comment by Ryan Trang | July 11, 2012 @ 1:53 am

My favourite Asian movie is “Last Train Home” (2009) because it is a harrowing film. It pulls your deepest emotions while making you realize that you are genuinely fortunate.

  125. Comment by Calvin Ly | July 11, 2012 @ 4:23 am

My favorite Asian movie would have to be “Curse of the Golden Flower” (2006), a film about a royal family in ancient China. I particularly liked the costumes in that movie; they are really, really well-done and showed much promise as one of the most successful movies in 2006.

  126. Comment by leo | July 11, 2012 @ 8:05 am

I know it’s not an Asian movie but…. RUSH HOUR 2!

  127. Comment by Nelson | July 11, 2012 @ 9:36 am

Shaolin Soccer, too awesome for words. Probably one of the funniest Asian Movies I’ve watched. A quote that I remember the most was “I want to say hello to my parents and my Kung Fu master, but they’re all dead.” (Quoted from Sing, Stephen Chow)

  128. Comment by Jennifer Lo | July 11, 2012 @ 9:37 am

I like comedy so I like watching Stephen Chow a lot when I was younger. I think my favourite one would be the “God of gambler” where he goes back to the past.

  129. Comment by Jas | July 11, 2012 @ 9:56 am

My favourite Asian movie is “Turning Point” (2009) starring Michael Tse. I loved this movie because it created a lot of suspense, action, and thrill with a lot of twist to the movie that keeps you guessing what will happen next. Everyone should watch this because it features the return of Laughing Gor whom we all love as the undercover cop.

  130. Comment by Susan V | July 11, 2012 @ 10:55 am

My favourite Asian movie is definitely Love on a Diet which stars Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng. I am a sucker for romantic comedies and this movie is no exception. The movie is about two obese people – one who wants to lose weight before meeting her ex, and one who goes through a lot just to help her meet her goals. I love love love these two actors and enjoy their chemistry onscreen. It’s a lighthearted movie with a nice soundtrack. The fat suits are so ridiculous though, lol.

  131. Comment by Melissa | July 11, 2012 @ 12:46 pm

My favourite Asian movie would be Shaolin Soccer because it was one of the funniest movies in my childhood. I always remember that epic tornado kick at the ending. hahah.

  132. Comment by Lucy | July 11, 2012 @ 1:24 pm

My favorite asian movie is Love is Not Blind. It is a romance drama that shows how to get over your ex boyfriend or girlfriend. Very not typical chinese movie xp

  133. Comment by Jeffrey | July 11, 2012 @ 1:52 pm

The Infernal Affairs trilogy was pretty good. It had a nice action with good suspense involving police and criminals. The English adaption of this film, The Departed, won multiple Academy Awards

  134. Comment by Calvin | July 11, 2012 @ 1:59 pm

    shaolin soccer

  135. Comment by Annabel | July 11, 2012 @ 2:32 pm

My favourite Asian movie is Infernal Affairs (the first one). It’s such a classic about moles, police and criminals. I’ve seen it many many times.

  136. Comment by AiLi | July 11, 2012 @ 2:36 pm

My favourite movie is Turning Point 2. After watching the drama series I just had to watch this. It’s basically a continuation of the drama – which was REALLY interesting! You should watch it if you haven’t already. It’s called Lives of Omission. If you love action/cop related mysteries movies, this is the movie for you! I already recommended it to all of my friends and the ones who watched it loved it! You would have to watch Lives of Omission first to understand this movie, but the drama is no disappointment! It was amazing – like AMAZING!! Who doesn’t love a good Laughing Gor movie? ;)

  137. Comment by Vivian | July 11, 2012 @ 2:48 pm

My favourite asian movie is a korean movie called “A Moment to Remember”. It is my all time favourite korean movie. I usually don’t like to watch sad movies but this one is one that you can’t pass on. One of the things I love the most about this movie is how touching it is and also how the ending is not ridiculous in where it won’t make sense. It leaves you off feeling really satisfied. A must watch!

  138. Comment by Josephine | July 11, 2012 @ 3:03 pm

I have always enjoyed Bruce Lee and Jet Li movies. My favourite one is Jet Li’s Forbidden Kingdom. But they are all very good movies.

  139. Comment by Jamie | July 11, 2012 @ 3:06 pm

I can’t choose between Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. Both are amazing comedies, and I couldn’t stop laughing from beginning to end. People should watch them because it’s a great way to introduce humour into their day, and a day without laughter is a day wasted!

  140. Comment by Cassey | July 11, 2012 @ 3:08 pm

My favourite movie is “I love Hong Kong.” I rarely watch Chinese movies, but this movie is funny and worth to watch!

I don’t watch too many Asian movies, but one that I’ve watched more than once is “Umi-zaru”, it’s about the Japanese Coast Guards and touches on love, friendship and not giving up. It carries a good message, has some humor to lighten up the mood also.

  145. Comment by Rebecca | July 11, 2012 @ 5:17 pm

Initial- D! Lots of car racing and awesome stunts! Best of all, Jay Chou! <3

Ip Man, starring Donnie Yen. It is a story of a very humble man with an incredible fighting style. It is an inspirational video that brings hope when all hope is lost during the invasion by the Japanese. A short history of the beginning of Wing Chun and the master of Bruce Lee!

There is history, action, story, friendship, and a lot of other emotional events. Watch it! Its gooooood

  148. Comment by Jennathon Tran | July 11, 2012 @ 7:17 pm

  149. Comment by Stephanie | July 11, 2012 @ 7:21 pm

God of Gamblers is my favorite Asian movie. The entire series and spin offs are good too. It is my favorite because of how the justice was served to the villain at the end of the movie. Everyone should watch it because it is a classic and because it has an epic theme song.

  150. Comment by Jennifer C. | July 11, 2012 @ 7:33 pm

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It’s an awesome martial arts movie that was shot in the beautiful provinces of China. People should watch it because the plot line is great. Also, the cinematography and action sequences were unbelievable.

  157. Comment by Quincy | July 11, 2012 @ 10:25 pm

My favourite asian movie is called “Paradise Kiss.” It’s my favourite because it is very inspirational. It teaches us that we must find our own calling instead of simply falling in line with what society wants. It also offers a look into the dedication that is needed to alter one’s path in life and how we should never stop pursuing our dreams. If you want a melodramatic movie with a cute love story, this movie is for you! :]

  158. Comment by adrienne | July 11, 2012 @ 10:41 pm

My favorite Asian movie is probably the Japanese anime “Howl’s Moving Castle” based on a novel. The plot is a bit different from the novel but both are amazing. I love all of the Studio Ghibli movies!!

3)…while doing what everyone else above me has already included in their comments!
